8U, 9U, 10U, 11U, and 12U Ripken District/BayState ("District") Tournament Teams
North Andover will enter one team into the Ripken 8U , 9U , 10U , 11U (70' diamond) , and 12U (70' diamond) tournaments. Players selected and who accept the invitation to play on a Tournament team are not eligible to play on an MVSDL team**. By accepting a roster spot on the District Team, thus preventing another player from making that team, the following is the implied commitment and expectations for each District Team player:
- Each District Team player is expected to participate in any scheduled practices each week and be available to play in every District or Baystate game. Only compelling reasons will be considered acceptable excuses for not meeting this requirement. Compelling excuses are defined as situations that are beyond the player’s control. For instance, an important family commitment or responsibility would be considered a “compelling” reason. However, another baseball or other sport related conflict, practice, or games would not.
Players selected to a District team, based on evaluations and performances in the Spring season, will compete in the Ripken Tournament and two rounds of the Bay State Baseball Tournament of Champions**. Practices will begin in late May/early June with tournament play ending in mid-August. Please reach out to the NAYB Board for additional information on team selection, commitment level, and schedule(s). Participation in the spring season, along with a minimum number of games played is a prerequisite to play on a District team. Players must reside in North Andover prior to February 1 of the spring season to be eligible for a District team. Only very specific exceptions will be allowed and approved by Ripken representatives.
NOTE: There will be an additional fee for players selected for and opting to play on a tournament team. This additional fee covers the cost of entering the Ripken Tournament, Bay State Tournament of Champions, as well as uniforms.
** Due to the BayState League not offering an 8U Tournament, the 8U team will play in the MVSDL
